Cabin attendants fly to various places, but my favorite destination is defi nitely Japan.
There, I recommend a yakiniku (“grilled meat”) and shochu (Japanese spirit) restaurant called Mott’s Bar Fukunoya, close by Keisei Narita Station.
When I step through the doorway, I am always warmly greeted by the manager, who explains the day’s special menu. My fi rst recommendation is yakiniku.
This restaurant offers a wide range of meat, including beef, pork, chicken and sausage. I am particularly fond of the sirloin beef and salted pork spareribs. The second recommendation is the assorted kimchi — a fermented Korean side dish. This kimchi is made using three different types of vegetable and comes in mild and spicy variations. The third is whole cabbage with miso sauce. The fresh cabbage has a richly sweet natural fl avor. My fourth and fi nal recommendation is rice with raw egg. In Thailand, we do not normally eat raw egg.
But when I fi rst tried raw egg in Japan, I couldn’t help but exclaim how delicious it was!
Rice with raw egg certainly makes an excellent accompaniment to yakiniku and kimchi.
