Tazawako is a near circular lake with a circumference of around 20 km, known for its azure surface and the legend of Princess Tatsuko. It is the deepest lake in Japan at 423.4 meters. The shining gold statue of Tatsuko with the clear lake water in the background is a sight to behold.
The north shore of the lake features a number of famous and historic sites, such as the Gozanoishi Shrine where Tatsuko is enshrined. There are also many leisure spots where you can experience the wonders of nature from season to season, whether driving, cycling, or on a sightseeing boat.
