Fuji Rock Festival is an annual rock festival held at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. Fuji RockFestival, held the initial year at the base of Mt. Fuji, is the largest outdoor music event in Japan, with more than 200 Japanese and international musicians performing for more than 100,000 fans during the course of the 3-day event.
The Festival boasts seven main stages, as well as several smaller stages scattered throughout the ski resort area. The Green Stage, the main stage at Fuji Rock Festival, is large enough for almost 50,000 spectators.“Dragondola,” the longest gondola lift in the world, carries visitors up to the top of the mountain overlooking the festival site. The walks between some of the stages can be long, but festival-goers can enjoy the beautiful alpine scenery while moving between stages.
The night before the festival (Thursday night) brings together visitors from around the world to enjoy afree-entry opening party which features bon-odori (traditional Japanese folk dance), food stalls and a fireworks display.
